Bleeding in Pregnancy
Q. This month I had a very light period, but still felt pregnant. I took a pregnancy test and it was positive. What's up?
A. If you had a positive pregnancy test just a few days ago, and still have any pregnancy symptoms that you had before, or an increase in symptoms, you most likely experienced implantation bleeding. This is where you will have a small amount of bleeding or spotting in the first few weeks, normally when your period would be due. It is caused from the egg implanting into the wall of your uterus.
Bleeding in pregnancy can be scary. You may fear that you've had a miscarriage. It has been estimated that 30% of pregnant women will have some bleeding and that 40-60% of these pregnancies will do just fine.
